Ms. Hairston’s Journey to Lifelong Learning

My classroom blog, “Ms. Hairston’s Journey to Lifelong Learning”, will provide families with an inside look into our daily learning adventures. My goal is to provide a transparent and interactive experience with our curriculum, activities, and projects. This space will also serve as a place for providing resources and ideas for extending student learning at home.

This blog is designed for the families of my students at Albert Harris Elementary. My class this year includes 15 wonderful 4th graders with a range of backgrounds, learning styles, and interests. While my students are the primary focus, I hope to also engage other family members like grandparents, aunts/uncles, and anyone else involved in the child’s education. I also invite other 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade teachers at Albert Harris Elementary to follow along, as we are all partners in this journey. My ultimate goal is crafting a community of curious, lifelong learners–both in and out of the classroom.

By giving families a window into our day-to-day discoveries, my aim is to build an open line of communication, reinforce classroom learning, and strengthen the home-school connection. I want family members to gain ideas and resources for extending literacy, math, science, and our social curriculum beyond school walls. This blog will allow me to highlight student work, share classroom happenings, and suggest interactive ways families can support their child’s education and growth as a whole person. I hope you’ll follow along on the journey!
